This concept by Saikat Biswas combines two things people love to hate: lomo and concept renders. The Holga D is a concept that takes the simple controls and form of the Holga, and adds a digital sensor. In order to simplify the idea, Biswas’ design removed many of the features and buttons associated with digital photography. There’s no rear LCD, no way to see your photos as you take them, and only a handful of shutter speeds and ISOs, controlled with small dials. In order to save battery, the only screen is a small e-ink display showing the current settings. Biswas also posited used old generation, full-frame or APS-C sensors to keep the cost down.

Super Mamika: the 91-year-old Superhero

To cheer up his 91-year-old hungarian grandmother, french photographer Sacha Goldberger suggested that they shoot a series of outrageous photographs in unusual costumes, poses, and locations. And Super Mamika (grandmother in Hungarian) was born.

Now she has a MySpace site, a Facebook page, a book, and according to well informed sources, she has even been approached by Hollywood.

And by the way, Mamika is a real hero. During the war, at the peril of her own life, she courageously saved the lives of ten people.

The party you may want to remember

A clever way to tell the benefits of a new product: the light field camera.

PS: Light field cameras are a different take on photography by capturing “the entire light field” and saving all that information into a single file. Photographers can then edit the file afterwards in a number of unique ways — including refocusing the image.
